Key Features
- Adaptive Cruise functions just like normal cruise control, but with one exception: When its sensors detect traffic slowing, your vehicle also slows down, and when traffic has cleared, your vehicle resumes the set speed. Collision Warning with Brake Support will alert you if it senses a potential collision with the car in front of you. A "heads-up" display, which simulates brake lights, flashes on the windshield. If you don't react in time, the brakes will pre-charge and increase
- The BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross Traffic Alert is yet another innovation available on the 2011 Ford Taurus. When a vehicle enters the blind spot zone, an indicator light provides a warning in the outside mirror corresponding to the side from which the vehicle is approaching. The Cross Traffic Alert feature uses blind spot monitoring sensors to audibly and visually alert you to impending traffic while slowly backing out of a driveway/parking spot and another vehicle is approaching from either side. BLIS with Cross Traffic Alert is optional on Taurus Limited and SHO models.
- Get enhanced traction when you need it most. Whether the road is filled with gravel, covered with ice or soaked by rain, available AWD helps provide sure-footed traction. Because AWD is fully automatic, it instantly delivers traction to the wheels needing it the most when wheelslip is detected. AWD is standard on SHO; available on SEL and Limited models.
- Ford SYNC® is a voice-activated communications system that allows you to operate most popular MP3 players, Bluetooth®-enabled phones and flash drives with simple voice commands.* Segment-exclusive SYNC includes 911 Assist™ and Vehicle Health Report, plus Traffic, Directions and Information services, which now include the Send-to-SYNC feature. Send-to-SYNC lets you send a selected destination from the MapQuest site to SYNC, where you download it via your Bluetooth®-enabled phone and access it through the system's voice-guided turn-by-turn directions. Available on Taurus SE and SEL; standard on Limited and SHO. *Driving while distracted can result in loss of vehicle control. Only use mobile phones and other devices, even with voice commands, when it is safe to do so. Sync traffic, directions and information are not available on vehicles with optional Navigation System.
- Get directions, information on traffic backups, even gas prices. The available voice-activated Navigation System with integrated SIRIUS Travel Link™* on the 2011 Taurus combines Global Positioning System (GPS) technology with 3-D mapping to provide turn-by-turn voice guidance. But that's only for starters. System features include: • Current, local gas prices • Real-time traffic information • Current and forecast weather • Movie listings (including theater locations, show times and ratings) • Scores for major sports • DVD movie viewing on navigation screen when the vehicle is in Park • Bird's-eye map view with six adjustable angle settings • Saves destinations, provides the shortest route, reroutes you if you miss your turn • 10GB digital jukebox with voice-controlled access to music files • Personal photo upload capability • Destination Download feature that lets you send a selected destination from the MapQuest site, where you download it via your Bluetooth®-enabled phone and access it through the system's voice-guided turn-by-turn directions. • HD Radio™ reception available through stations equipped with HD radio transmission. • Available on Taurus Limited and SHO. *Real-time traffic monitoring available in select markets. Some features are unavailable while driving. Service available in the 48 contiguous states and Washington DC. SIRIUS Travel Link is a trademark of SIRIUS XM Radio, Inc. Comes with a six-month prepaid subscription; paid subscription required after introductory six-month period.
- Starting your Taurus is a breeze with the available Intelligent Access with push-button start. First, make sure the key fob is in your pocket or somewhere in the car (including the trunk). Next, press the brake pedal and then the start button. Just shift into gear and go. Available on Taurus SEL and Limited; standard on SHO. Read more

2011 Ford Taurus SHO by automedia.com
Over 45 years ago, musclecars roamed the earth (although they certainly weren'tcalled musclecars way back when, but we digress). There were all sorts of different examples available in the Sixties-Cobra Jet Mustangs, GTA Fairlanes, Torino Cobras, and so on. But one particular version that walked softly and carried a large stick was the "sleeper.” It was a car with considerable grunt under the hood, but without much on the outside to advertise its presence. Externally, it was pretty much covered in a plain brown wrapper. Some really good examples of the breed include the 1966 Medium Riser 427 Fairlanes and even earlier 406 and 427 powered Galaxies. The only real giveaway was a small badge on the front fender. Back then, those seemingly basic vanilla cars ruled the roost.
